Odoo US payroll, built by the team behind a 500K-employee rollout.

Odoo's native payroll isn't US-localized, so every US deployment needs a payroll strategy: integrate a US provider (ADP, Gusto, Paychex, Paylocity) or build payroll inside Odoo. We've done both, including the largest Odoo payroll engagement anywhere, a 500,000-employee national-government workforce.

Odoo US payroll, provider integration and custom payroll modules

Odoo payroll in the US is an integration-or-build decision, and most partners only know one answer.

Here's the honest starting point: Odoo's built-in Payroll module ships localizations for some countries, but US payroll, federal + state + local withholding, multi-state filings, W-2 / 941 / 940, garnishments, and the constant tax-table churn, is not something you want a generic Odoo configuration to own. So a US Odoo payroll project is really a decision between two paths, and the right answer depends on your headcount, complexity, and appetite for compliance ownership.

Path one, integrate a US payroll provider. For most US mid-market companies this is the right call. We keep HR, time, attendance, and cost-center allocation in Odoo and sync to ADP, Gusto, Paychex, or Paylocity, which own tax filing and compliance. We build the bidirectional integration: employee and org-structure sync, hours and earnings export, and posting the payroll journal back into Odoo Accounting by department and project so your financials stay accurate. You get one source of truth in Odoo without making Odoo your tax-compliance system.

That experience is the point. Hibou is the best-known name for US Odoo payroll, and they do solid work. Where we're different: we've engineered Odoo payroll at a scale and rule-complexity most teams never touch, under ISO 12207 software-lifecycle and ISO 27001 security governance, with the audit discipline that government and donor-funded payroll demands. Whether your answer is a clean Gusto integration or a custom multi-entity salary engine, you get a senior team that has seen the hard version of the problem.

What we deliver

Two paths, one senior team.

Payroll provider integration

Bidirectional sync with ADP, Gusto, Paychex, or Paylocity. Employee + org sync, hours / earnings export, and payroll journals posted back to Odoo Accounting by department and project.

Custom Odoo payroll

Salary structures, rules, and computation built in Odoo for logic providers can't handle, grade scales, shift differentials, multi-entity cross-charging, union and government rules.

HR + time foundation

Odoo HR, Attendances, Time Off, and Timesheets configured as the system of record so payroll inputs are clean before anything is computed or exported.

Accounting integration

Payroll posts to the right GL accounts, cost centers, and analytic tags automatically, labor cost lands in your project and department reporting without manual journals.

Compliance-aware design

Multi-state, garnishments, and audit trails designed in. ISO 12207 + ISO 27001 governance; the segregation-of-duties discipline that passed external national-government payroll audit.

Scale-tested engineering

The architecture behind a 500,000-employee, multi-cycle payroll system. Whatever your headcount, the engineering rigor is the same.

, Questions

Odoo US payroll, what teams ask.

Can Odoo run US payroll natively?
Not well, and we won't pretend otherwise. Odoo's Payroll module is strong on salary-rule computation but does not ship a maintained US tax-compliance localization (federal + state + local withholding, multi-state filings, W-2 / 941 / 940, year-end). For US payroll you either integrate a provider that owns compliance, or you build and maintain the compliance logic in Odoo deliberately. We'll tell you which fits your situation.
Should we integrate ADP/Gusto or build payroll in Odoo?
Most US mid-market companies should integrate, keep HR, time, and cost allocation in Odoo and let ADP, Gusto, Paychex, or Paylocity own tax filing. Build inside Odoo only when your payroll logic is genuinely off-the-shelf-resistant: grade-based scales, complex multi-entity cross-charging, union rules, or government / donor reporting. We've done both and recommend the cheaper-to-own path when it fits.
How does NETLINKS compare to Hibou for Odoo payroll?
Hibou is a credible, well-known US Odoo payroll specialist. Our differentiator is scale and rule-complexity experience: we built the largest Odoo payroll system anywhere, a 500,000-employee national-government workforce with grade-based pay and multi-cycle runs, under ISO 12207 + ISO 27001 governance. For complex or audit-sensitive payroll, that depth matters; for a straightforward integration, both are solid.
Which US payroll providers do you integrate with Odoo?
ADP, Gusto, Paychex, and Paylocity most often. The integration syncs employees and org structure, exports hours and earnings for the payroll run, and posts the resulting payroll journal back into Odoo Accounting allocated by department, project, and analytic account. Other providers are possible via their APIs, we scope feasibility during discovery.
Are you a Gold or Silver Odoo partner?
Certified Odoo partner since 2012, with current partner tier on request. What matters more for procurement is the 50+ implementation track record, the 500K-employee national-government engagement, and ISO 12207 + ISO 27001 certifications, partner-tier badges follow performance, not the other way around.
Where do you deliver from?
US headquarters in Fairfax, Virginia. Regional delivery centers in Gandhinagar (India) and Dubai (UAE), plus an office in Kabul. Senior architecture and client-facing roles run from Virginia; engineering is split across the locations based on time-zone and specialty fit.
How do I get started?
30-minute discovery call with a senior architect. If it's a fit, we move to a paid 2-4 week structured discovery that ends with a written solution-design document and firm fixed-fee proposal. The discovery fee is refundable against the implementation if you proceed.
Can you handle multi-state and multi-entity payroll?
Yes. Multi-state is primarily a provider-configuration and Odoo cost-allocation problem on the integration path, and a salary-rule + analytic-tagging problem on the custom path. Multi-entity cross-charging, where one entity runs payroll and costs are allocated to others, is exactly the kind of structure our national-government build handled, and it transfers directly to US multi-entity groups.
